A large-scale community event is planned for the evening of the winter solstice, Dec. 21, 2012, at Open Space. Called "The Beginning" and dubbed a "Party/Performance/Community Ritual", it’s the brainchild of Martha Enson and Kevin Joyce, aka EnJoy Productions.

Please help a local small and unique business to stay in business. Pure, Vashon’s only vegan, organic, gluten-free health and wellness cafe, opened in May of 2010.

Nov. 30 – Dec. 2 . Once again Vashon town becomes Holiday town during this weekend filled with festive activities for all ages!

The Holiday 2012 Vashon Island Art Studio Tour will be held on two weekends, December 1st and 2nd and 8th and 9th, 10-4 each day. It’s a free, self-guided event with 38 participating studios, shops and galleries.

All are welcome Saturday, Dec 1 for BOSU and hula hoop contests, games and raffles at the McMurray Lobby in front of the Farm Market Saturday, Dec 1.

Just in time for the holidays Vashon Allied Arts hosts a jewelry trunk show (complete with chocolate and champagne) Sunday, November 11, 1–4 pm, with Island jeweler Zuzana Korbelarova. Originally from Prague, Czech Republic, she lives in Burton, where her waterfront studio offers ample light and creative inspiration.

Come one, come all to the Vashon Island Fruit Club’s annual Fall Fruit Show, which will be held on Saturday, November 10th from 10 am to 3 pm. The Show will take place in the Senior Center and the Land Trust Building, side by side on Bank Road

A group of former Vashon Girl Scout leaders have planned a celebration in honor of the 100th anniversary of Juliette "Daisy" Gordon Low’s very first Girl Scout meeting in her Savannah, Georgia, home on March 12, 1912. Please join us at the Vashon Sportsmen’s Club on Sunday, October 28th, 2012, from 1pm to 4pm to share memories of your time as a Girl Scout on Vashon Island and elsewhere. Everyone is welcome!

The Vashon Veterans of the Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 2826 offer all students from the 3rd through the 12th grades, our Leader of Tomorrow, an opportunity to participate in a VFW Youth Essay Contest. Two of the contests are National VFW programs, Voice of Democracy (grades 9 through 12) and Patriot’s Pen (grades 6 through 8) and one is the Washington State Youth Essay program (grades 3 through 5).
